Psoriasis Treatment on Youtube: A Cross-Sectional Study

Objective: As with every chronic disease, YouTube is increasingly heavily accessed to get information for psoriasis. It contains quality videos containing medical information; however, some content of low quality, unscientific, misleading, and potentially harmful. We aimed conduct this study reveal situation, understand the rate non-physician practice, develop solutions. Material Methods: Between May 1-31, 2022, we searched search engine by typing 'psoriasis treatment' in Turkish. The number views video, subscribers, time publication, duration gender occupation presenter, type channel on which video was posted, were recorded. In analysis analytical statistics, Quade test used eliminate severity difference extreme skewness. Levene's homogeneity analysis. Results: majority consisted education-information about psoriasis treatment methods (41.6%) specific recommendations (35%). 46.2% narrators physicians (21.7% dermatologist, 24.5% non-dermatologist) 25.8% non-physicians, herbalists (15.4%) leading ones. evidence-based 24.5%, while non-evidence-based treatments 65.7%. Conclusion: have identified created who recommend supplements plant extracts, are not based substantial evidence. There should be more its dermatologists experts subject.
